Just a reminder to get out the vote tomorrow!! The world is definitely watching. We have been shocked at the number of people who want to discuss American politics with us. It is often one of the first things people mention when we tell them that we are from the US–pretty humbling considering how little most Americans follow the politics in other countries. It is difficult to say if the amount of attention being paid to this election is the rule or the exception, but one thing is clear: Obama is the clear favorite amongst those with whom we’ve discussed the election.
I could go on about all the reasons I feel Obama is the right choice for our country, but I’m sure everyone who is reading this has done their own research and has their own opinion. I will just say that I have very high hopes for tomorrow. If I can still wear that pin on Wednesday on our Inca Trail hike, nothing will be able to wipe the smile off of my face.
Obama ’08!!
My husband and I are having the same experience in India. The conversation is inevitable
Someone we meet: “Hi, where are you from?”
Us: “America”
Someone we meet: “Oh, big election coming up. Who do you hope will win? Obama, right?”
Every time.
I like to think that people in other countries still look at the United States as a shining star of hope for what has been a bold attempt at freedom. While that star has been dimmed for the last eight years and while they see the experiment get side-tracked every so often or make a misstep, they continue to hope and anticipate that America will right itself. And I believe they see a President Obama as the best chance for that healing to take place, as the best captain to put us back on course, the best leader to help the country begin to lead and help the entire world deal with the host of problems the inhabitants of this planet now face. May greed, deception, vindictiveness, and pride go to hell, where they belong.
Please vote…for Obama!
Good to see your smiling faces this morning. It is gorgeous here. The sun is shineing, people (tons of people!) are voting and out mingling with their neighbors. I have only had to wait 10 minutes before to vote and in a highly democratic precinct I had to wait an hour and a half this morning. It was great to see everyone voting and two people in front of me were actually neighbors meeting for the first! It was very exciting and moving to see so many people.
The weather is TERRIFIC here!! Great for Election Day. I was up bright and early and in line at 6:30, and not leaving the polls until 8:22. At first very tired and slightly annoyed, especially when I realized I didn’t even get my “I voted” sticker, which means no free Krisby Kreme, Starbucks, or car wash for me. But then I got in my car and heard “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson for the 2nd time in the morning (not kidding), and realized it was all worth it. You 2 look FANTASTIC!!!!
just in case you haven’t heard.. that pin Meg is wearing is now true.. woohooo!
Yes we did!
In all the years we have known you & your family, we never talked politics. Never wanted to have politics come between friendship, but it is nice to know we have been on the same side after all. Change for the better is now coming. Yes we can!
